Prolotherapy

Patient receiving prolotherapy injection

Prolotherapy lets us relieve pain in any of your joints. Injecting a mix of lidocaine and dextrose (sugar) encourages the body’s natural healing processes to focus on the affected area. With the lidocaine numbing the area for your comfort, the dextrose causes irritation in order to trigger the body’s inflammatory response. The irritation doesn’t harm the tissue at all; it is simply meant to trigger a healing response.

Prolozone

Patient in pain before prolozone therapy

Prolozone (tm)therapy is a form of non-surgical ligament, tendon and joint reconstruction pioneered by Dr. Frank Shallenberger. Prolozone(tm) therapy is derived from the Latin word “proli” which means to proliferate, regenerate and rebuild. Unlike steroid injections which have many side effects and do not initiate any healing response in tissues Prolozone (tm) promotes healing of damaged tendons , ligaments and joints. This treatment uses ozone to stimulate growth factors, improve oxygen utilization, increase blood supply and the flow of healing nutrients to area of pain. More importantly it stimulates the deposition activity of fibroblasts and chondroblasts. These cells synthesize the collagen and cartilage that the body uses to repair damaged tendons ligaments and joints. This increase in cellular repair activity strengthens the injured tissues thereby stabilizing the area and resolving cause of pain. Our doctors at INSO utilize this innovative treatment to help decrease pain and heal injuries. These procedures are all performed under ultrasound guidance for accuracy and to avoid neurovascular structures

Allograft – Amniotic Growth Factors

Patient receiving allograft amniotic growth factor treatment

Receiving allograft means that the donated tissue came from another person. We can derive cells from amniotic fluid taken from a donor and inject them into a part of the body where an injury has occurred. The amniotic growth factors encourage the body to zero in on the area where they’ve been administered for healing. This facilitates the development of new cells that can be used to repair the tissue, stop pain, and restore the function of the area.

Autografts – Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)

Separated blood and platelet rich plasma for autograft treatment

An autograft involves taking tissue from one part of your body and placing it somewhere else to encourage healing. With platelet rich plasma, we take a blood sample and inject it into the injured area to stimulate healing. Before the injection, though, we place the blood sample in a centrifuge and separate the different components of the blood. The frothy platelet layer of plasma (PRP) is what we’ll use for the injection, as it contains high concentration of proteins and growth factors to accelerate the healing process. PRP is used to both reduce pain while also shortening overall recovery time.

Ozone Therapy

Ozone is a molecule that consists of three oxygen atoms bonded together. When it is applied to tissues in the human body, it instigates a reaction that promotes healing. For example, it can help to combat inflammation, ward off harmful pathogens, relieve pain from autoimmune disorders, and encourage the release of your body’s own stem cells. Ozone therapy is a very low-risk, non-invasive method for promoting your musculoskeletal wellness and getting you on the path to functioning and feeling your best.
